Updated: Nikon D2H – Officially
Nikon has officially unveiled
D2H. This digital SLR camera features a new 4.1 million image sensor.
pixels, LBCAST (Lateral Buried Charge Accumulator and Sensing Transistor Array),
on field effect transistors (JFET), which can significantly reduce
the amount of noise, more accurately reproduce the color of the image. Maximum resolution
sensor – 2484 x 1636 pixels, aspect ratio ? 3: 2.
The total number of pixels of the matrix ? 4.26 million. Resolution of the resulting images
? 2464 x 1632 (L), 1840 x 1224 (M). The camera provides the ability to batch
shooting up to 40 frames in JPEG format (25 – in RAW format) at 8 fps.
In general, the supported formats ? TIFF (RGB), NEF + JPEG, NEF (12-bit RAW),
JPEG (EXIF 2.2).
Autofocus – 11 points, TTL. Sensitivity ? ISO 200 ? 1600. Range
excerpts ? 30-1 / 8000s, shutter lag is 37ms. Camera screen – 2.5 “,
211 thousand. pixels. Camera interfaces ? USB 2.0, video output. Well and besides,
data transmission in the 802 standard network is supported.11b.

for the 4th quarter of this year. Price ? about $ 4,136.
Along with the camera, the company introduced three new lenses, two of which
? DX-Nikkor type (AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f / 2.8G ED and AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor
17-55mm f / 2.8G IF-ED). Third lens ? F4.0G, 200 ? 400 mm with suppression system
vibration when shooting.
Also worth mentioning is Nikon’s specially designed flash
Speedlight SB-800, which has a lot of improvements
Nikon’s i-TTL version of D-TTL flash control technology.
Flash light color information transmission.
The system is designed to make AWB (automatic balance
white) independent of the duration (power) of the flash pulse. Still
when shooting with flash, the white balance may change depending on the distance
from flash to subject. When shooting distant subjects (long pulse)
flash light becomes reddish when shooting close subjects (short
pulse) the flash light becomes bluish.
The SB-800 has a system that transmits flash burst data during shooting
Nikon’s new digital SLR image processor
D2H, as a result of this, the independence of the AWB results is ensured
from changes in flash output when the distance to the subject changes.
Flash Level Lock (FV-Lock).
The SB-800 has an FV-Lock function that allows you to “lock” (remember)
flash output for a series of shots using the same AE Lock button
(AE-L) on the camera body used to lock exposure
in natural light.
Auto FP high-speed sync
D2H mechanical shutter synchronizes with flash at 1/250 sec.
The new SB-800 can automatically switch to FP mode, providing
shutter speeds faster than the standard sync speed, allowing
use fast balanced fill-flash at
bright lighting or high-aperture optics.
In FP mode, the flash emits a series of short flashes that provide synchronization
with the new Nikon D2H digital SLR camera at shutter speeds up to 1/8000 sec.
Wide-angle AF-assist beam
Nikon D2H compatibility is also ensured by the focus area illumination system
new 11-zone D2H Multi-CAM200 autofocus system for precision
autofocus system operation when lighting conditions are below –1 EV (ISO100).
In addition to the improved i-TTL system, the new SB-800 also
has a new innovative control system for multiple flash groups.
Improved wireless control
The SB-800 is equipped with Nikon Communication Technology, enabling information exchange
between outbreaks. This system is designed for shooting with a group
flashes as easy as single flash photography.
Up to 3 SB-800 flashes can now exchange data from metering flashes
with a master flash unit for automatic exposure metering, which saves
from the need to use a flash meter or do manual calculations.
The D2H DSLR uses a 1005 segment matrix sensor
to calculate exposure and send information to each slave flash unit to change
Additionally, for those photographers who need full power control
each flash, the possibility of remote control of the modes of each
from SB-800 slave flash units using the master flash unit.In addition, you can disable
master flash while maintaining full control and communication with remote flash units.
In situations where several photographers are working at the same time, adjustment is possible
linking the master and slave flash units to one of 4 switchable channels, which allows
four photographers independently operate their remote flash units without risk
interference with other photographers using the same system.
Distance priority mode
Enhanced flash control capabilities are provided in the new
distance priority mode. The photographer can set the distance to the subject in advance
and the desired aperture value, and the SB-800 calculates the required pulse power
regardless of the color or reflectivity of the subject.
SB-800 has the same guide number 36 (ISO 100), arrangement of buttons, organs
control and lockable metal foot as the SB-80DX, but it has a new
dot matrix LCD. To turn on the modeling light, you can also
use the D2H’s depth-of-field (DOF) preview button to
evaluate the cut-off pattern of the frame without taking your eyes off the camera viewfinder.
All of the above functions will work when an off-camera flash is connected
to the camera using a new optional sync cable SC-29.
The SB-800 package includes:
- Battery pack SD-800 to reduce flash recharge time
- SJ-800 color filter system for balancing lighting with lamps
incandescent or fluorescent light sources
- Flash stand AS-19 for free placement of flashes
- Diffuser cover SW-10H for soft, diffused illumination
- Soft Case SS-800
Sales start – fall 2021.
