Two new technologies from Mitsubishi Electric for the production of LCD displays
During the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference 2021, better known as WinHEC, Mitsubishi Electric announced the development of two new technologies for the production of LCD displays – one for improved transmission of moving images, the other for better color reproduction.
The first technology, called Compression Feed-forward Driving (cFFD), reduces the “blur” effect when viewing fast moving images. As you know, the reduction of this effect is achieved mainly by reducing the response time. However, the new cFFD technology is based on controlling the accelerating voltage using a small memory buffer, combined with its own image compression technology, and giving an effect similar to an additional reduction in response time.
The second known problem with LCD panels is the difficulty in eliminating the differences between the transmission of different color display systems. For this, the company has developed the Natural Color Matrix (NCM) color management technology, which allows to reduce this difference (NCM is described very sparingly in the press release, we will hope for a more detailed description in the future).
For the first time, new technologies from Mitsubishi Electric – cFFD and NCM, were demonstrated at the WinHEC 2021 conference, the details will be presented at another event – the Society for Information Display 2021 Conference (SID 2021), which will be held on May 18 in Baltimore.
