DRAMeXchange: memory prices won’t rise until the second half of October
As we reported in the morning, there was little trading activity on the market on the last day of September, but by the end of the first day of October it became clear that Asian traders did not have to wait for a special miracle. Specifically, DRAMeXchange already predicts spot and contract memory prices to remain flat throughout the first week of October.
Computex, which took place a week ago in Taipei, certainly brought with it some revival, but it cannot be considered significant, and the holidays that began in China only strengthened the downward trend in sales. However, some predict that prices for small DRAM chips may spike due to the week-long holidays.
Thus, DRAMeXchange believes that memory prices will be influenced by low demand throughout the first half of October and, as a result, will not rise. At the same time, plans to expand production remained unchanged: for example, the production of chips on 300 mm wafers by the end of 2021 will double, and the share of Taiwanese DRAM manufacturers will account for about 40% of the total global sales.
