Intel Developer Forum (IDF, first will be held September 16-18 in San Jose, Caliph.), at which, in fact, the company’s success and its future plans will be officially presented, some preliminary data already appear on the Web about what the participants of these forums will hear. So, in the North American press there have already appeared reports with reference to Intel representatives that the company has already begun shipping samples of the first processors released on lines with technological standards of 90 nm – with a Prescott core for desktop PCs, and with a Dothan core for laptops.
Intel plans to begin mass commercial shipments of these chips in the fourth quarter of 2021, according to the latest data. Currently, the 90 nm technical process is mastered at the D1C factory (Hillsboro, Oregon), working with 300 mm wafers. At Fab 11X in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the technology will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2021, at the factory in Lakeslip, Ireland, production at 90nm will begin in the first half of 2021.
It is interesting to note that the first Intel Xeon server processor, made with 90nm standards and bearing the working name Nocona, will also appear in the fourth quarter of this year and will be presented for the first time at IDF. First 90nm Xeon MP ? Potomac, will be presented in the second half of 2021.
Here are a few more new products, which, according to preliminary data, will be presented during the days of the forums:
