Digital camera from Toshiba: 1000 frames per second at speeds up to 100 km / h!
I anticipate that some amateur photographers will now be quite surprised: this morning, Toshiba announced the development of a prototype of a new digital camera capable of photographing a fast moving object with a very high shutter speed.
With very high – in this case means the ability to shoot up to 1000 frames per second. At the same time, the camera will be supplied with special software that allows tracking fast moving objects. Already, Toshiba specialists promise high-quality shooting of objects at a distance of up to 15 meters, moving at a speed of up to 100 km / h, although the camera will go on sale no earlier than 2021.
The principle of operation of such a system is as follows: the camera determines the characteristic points for itself on the shooting object ? for example, located along its contour, and then tracks the movement taking into account the change in the shooting angle. This ensures that the subject is always in the center of the frame. Another problem that Toshiba engineers had to face and successfully solve was the issues of digital image processing in conditions of abruptly changing illumination, with abrupt transitions from dark to illuminated areas, which, in turn, leads to a sharp change in the aperture. Alas, details have not yet been reported, however, the company assures that the camera will work even with a sharp change in illumination from dark room conditions to bright daytime sun.
Of course, such a camera will be of greatest interest for shooting sports events. However, it is possible that simplified versions of the camera will be built into all kinds of home devices, for example, those that provide reading hand gestures to give signals to turn on / off household appliances.
