ASRock Seminar in Moscow: First Details
Yesterday, at the Sheraton Palace Hotel in Moscow, located on 1st Tverskaya-Yamskaya Street, ASRock held a seminar dedicated to the company’s products and the revitalization of its activities in the Russian market. The seminar was attended by our editors Sergey Pikalov (a.k.a. Peek) and Sergey Lurie (a.k.a. Archont – on the left in the photo).
Talking about the company’s products, Sales Director in Russia Tony Lin (Tony Lin – on the right in the photo) mentioned, in particular, that the company plans to start shipping motherboards based on 845D and 845G chipsets to Russia as soon as possible (several weeks). but with support for Hyper-Threading and 800 MHz FSB, respectively. These functions are supported in the first case by making full use of the chipset’s capabilities, and in the second – by overclocking. The seminar also mentioned a rather curious technology for protecting the processor from overheating U-COP (Universal CPU Overheating Protection), which is integrated into the motherboard and is able to work with processors that do not have built-in protection (for example, Duron), however, due to its versatility, it was transferred to motherboards for Pentium 4. Temperature control is carried out by measuring the power consumed by the processor, which depends on many physical parameters, including the temperature of the processor core, and if it experiences a sharp jump (for example, when the cooling fan fails), the processor power is turned off. By the way, U-COP implements saving CMOS settings and in the event of a forced power outage of the processor (for example, if an overclocking attempt is not too successful), the settings are restored, and the system reboots.
As usual, several prizes were drawn – ASRock motherboards, which were presented to the winners by Sales and Marketing Manager James Lee (pictured first left).
