LiDE 80: Canon’s $ 180 USB Powered Scanner
Canon today introduced the LiDE 80 scanner, which supports 2400 x 4800 dpi resolution, 48-bit color depth and does not require a separate power supply, since the device is powered via the bus (USB 2.0).
The scanner is equipped with a film adapter for scanning 35mm positives and negatives. The LiDE 80 uses Canon’s FARE Level 2 (Film Automatic Retouching and Enhancement) technology to improve the image quality of scanned films. The difference between the new technology from FARE and FARE Level 1 is to correct distortions caused by the grain structure of the film and its fading over time. Also supports FARE and FARE Level 1 correction functions for distortion caused by dust and scratches.
LiDE 80 will go on sale in August for a suggested retail price of $ 180. It’s worth noting that the scanner is sold with a one-year limited warranty. A 3-year warranty will cost LiDE 80 customers an additional $ 50.
