Intel’s polymer memory production under threat of disruption

Norwegian company Opticom ASA, which develops polymer 3D memory chips for Intel, says it cannot yet solve the technological problems that led to the fact that the timing of chip shipments was postponed by nine months.

Problems in thin polymer films were discovered last quarter. Opticom is currently in talks with Intel to change the terms of the manufacturing and licensing agreement. For the latter, there is also more unpleasant news – the Coatue company, leading similar developments, is now owned by AMD.
