Computer History Museum Replenishment: Power Macintosh 7100 / 80AV Live
While the point is, our computer history museum continues to be replenished with new, more and more outlandish exhibits. Half an hour ago, Andrei Vorobyov, our editor of the “Video System” section and the permanent curator of the museum, called me, and with noticeable excitement in his voice told me what an outlandish exhibit was in our exposition.
Here it is, assembled in the USA in 1994 Apple Power Macintosh 7100 / 80AV. What surprises most of all is not the 700 MB SCSI hard drive from Quantum, and not the ancient MacOS 8.0, under which it works, and not a trackball instead of a mouse, connected via the keyboard. Most surprising of all, it still works great! According to Andrey, the car was revived when he remembered the special adapter included with the ViewSonic monitor.
For the presented exhibit we express our gratitude to Alexey Kotikov from “Internews”.
P.S. When looking at perfectly working rarities and at the same time watching the screams and groans of computer “victims” faced with the problems of modern iron, one involuntarily thinks: either they did everything more reliably before, or the users’ hands were “straighter”? Maybe both? 😉
