Chaintech’s immediate plans for the release of motherboards and graphics cards
Thanks to Chaintech’s recent press conference in Moscow and a detailed presentation by Daphne Su, who heads the sales department, we had the opportunity to acquaint our readers with the company’s upcoming plans to release new motherboards and graphics cards.
First of all, it should be noted that Chaintech plans to expand its product list in the near future. In addition to the company’s traditional motherboards and 3D graphics for desktop PCs, Chaintech intends to expand its presence in the sector of products such as DVB receivers, media centers, notebooks of the class replacement desktop PC (IMO-DESK PC) and LCD TVs.
However, traditional Chaintech products will still be the most relevant for the Russian market. As you know, the company differentiates its motherboards by platform, which is reflected in the color design of boxes, board connectors and accessories included in the kit. In addition, Chaintech divides solutions for each platform into three subgroups: Zenith, with maximum performance, interface equipment and packaging; Apogee, with overclocking support and an optimal price / quality ratio; Summit – Inexpensive motherboards with a set of basic features. The clear hierarchy that existed so far will soon be disrupted by the emergence of a new platform for desktop PCs – AMD Athlon 64, for which its own color of board design (if I am not mistaken, orange) and names have already been reserved.
Thus, the current line of top-end Chaintech Zenith motherboards, consisting of 9CJS (Intel 875P + ICH5R), 9EJS1 (Intel 845E + ICH4) and 7NJS Ultra (nForce2 Ultra 400 + MCP-T) models, will be replenished with the 8NJS Ultra model based on the chipset from the time-tested partner NVIDIA. Of course, we are talking about using the chipset of the Crush K8 / K8S series.
The Apogee series, now consisting of 9PJL (Intel 865PE + ICH5), 9EJL2 (Intel 845PE + ICH4) and 7NJL1 (nForce2 Ultra 400 + MCP-T) boards, will soon be replenished with a new product for AMD Athlon 64 – 8VJL board, also on the Crush series chipset K8 / K8S.
As for the entry-level series, Summit, it is planned to add to the already supplied 9EJL4, 9VJL3 (Intel P4 platform) and 7NJL3 / 4, 7VJL5 (AMD K7 platform) boards: for P4 – 9VJL5 board on the VIA chipset, 9BJL3 boards, 9PJL1 / 9PJL3 and 9PJL4 based on Intel chipsets; for K7 – 7NJL3 / 7NJL4 on NVIDIA chipsets and 7VJL5 on VIA chipset.
Similar positioning across three price groups – Zenith, Apogee and Summit – is observed among graphics cards from Chaintech. Everything is clearer and more predictable here: the Zenith series includes FU98 (GeForce FX5900), FX70 / 60 (GeForce FX5600), FX30 / 20 (GeForce FX5200) cards. The Apogee series is represented by FU91 cards on the GeForce FX5900 Ultra chip, FX71 on the GeForce FX5600 Ultra chip, FX61 on the GeForce FX5600 and GX21 on the GeForce4 Ti4200-8X.
Special mention should be made of the so-called Gas-Turbine Technology – Apogee card cooling system. With a noise level of less than 28 dB, a system of three coolers provides airflow to all elements of the card due to the use of a casing covering the entire area of the board. The Apogee FX71 card, for example, due to the use of such a cooling system, has a typical chip temperature of 38.6 ° C. Boards with the Gas-Turbine Technology system come with the now fashionable blue LED backlighting systems.
This is how the retail kit of the Apogee FX71 card looks like:
