JEDEC warns: non-certified PC2100 / 2700 modules

World memory lawmaker JEDEC issues warning to buyers
modules PC2100 and PC2700, in which, according to The Inquirer,
it is noted that although the modules sold may have such markings, in fact
in fact, they may not be tested for compliance with the developed
specifications, as a result of which the performance of a PC with such modules is not guaranteed.

Responsibilities for testing, labeling and selling modules, as declared by JEDEC,
lie with the manufacturers, therefore it is recommended to purchase such modules only
only from companies that can guarantee product quality. It is noted,
that “trustworthy” producers should post information
on the compliance of the proposed modules with JEDEC standards and compatibility on their
corporate sites.

manufacturers sell untested modules. According to the representatives themselves
JEDEC, “We would not like to see [well-defined] standards for
memory modules are compromised by low-quality products. Sorry list
unscrupulous manufacturers were not attached to the warning.

In this situation, JEDEC is discussing the possibility of launching a certification program
modules by third companies, “which will allow the calculation of inappropriate
modules before they reach end-user PCs “.
