Update for Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family – Intel Community
Creative’s NOMAD Jukebox Zen: Now With 60GB Storage

Creative has announced the release of a new version of the portable audio player NOMAD Jukebox Zen, equipped with 60 GB of storage – clearly in opposition to Apple with its new 30 GB iPod players (however, Creative itself announced the opposition of these models, mentioning the new competitor’s iPod right in the headline of its press -release, and further, according to its text).

The new version differs from the Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen model announced in December last year with a 20 GB hard drive, mainly in triple storage capacity and support for the USB 2 interface.0. Of the already announced characteristics of the player, we can mention the declared signal-to-noise ratio of 98 dB, similar to the previous model, up to 14 hours of autonomous work from the built-in lithium-ion battery (compared to 12 hours for the 20 GB model and 8 hours for the Apple iPod), the presence of Scrolling and Find functions to quickly search for songs by the initial letter of artist name, song name or style, built-in FM tuner and microphone, 132 x 64 LCD display with blue backlight. The press release does not say a word about whether the new items, like the previous version, have an IEEE1394 interface. I will mention the supported file formats and bitrates from the characteristics of the Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen 20GB, since they have not yet been found for the 60 GB model: MP3 (bitrate 8 – 320 kbps), WMA (8 – 192 kbps), WAVE (11.025 – 48.0 kbps). More details are likely to appear in the coming days.

NOMAD Jukebox Zen 60GB is expected to arrive in May (at least in the US) with a MSRP of $ 399.99.
