Final 802 Specification.11g will be adopted in June

802 Standard Development Team.11 reached consensus on final 802 specs.11g, which the IEEE said will be officially adopted in June.

The final version of the standard took its final form last week, and the developers practically did not make any changes, but only analyzed the comments received on the version from 7.1 to 8.2 (last version was released in April). All major changes are focused on improving backward compatibility and interoperability of 802 networks.11b and g.

Despite the fact that the final version of the standard has not yet been published, there are already many products on the market that work in 802.11g, for example from Apple and D-Link. Some, however, decided to wait until June, when the final version will be published. These include Hewlett-Packard and Texas Instruments. According to IDC, the share of 802.11g accounts for about 20% of all wireless adapter sales.
