HGST relocates production lines to China

According to Hitachi’s media division, Hitachi
Global Storage Technologies (GST), the company begins a three-year
plan to relocate most of the production from San Jose and Odawara (Japan) to Shenzhen
(China).

As a reminder, GST, which is wholly owned by Hitachi, acquired the IBM business associated
with the production of hard drives, in December 2021. Deciding to start the transfer
production in China – part of Hitachi’s plan to fully integrate its business
hard drives with similar production from IBM. Hitachi GST drives released
