Ours at Computex 2021: curious things at the Gigabyte booth

A lot of interesting new products are demonstrated by companies these days at Computex 2021 in Taipei, Taiwan. Of course, in our news, we try first of all to inform our readers about new technologies and promising developments. However, one cannot do without a story about new products, especially with a “twist” that will appear on the shelves of computer stores in the near future.

From the entire stream of correspondence sent from the exhibition by our representative Alexander Vorobyov, we will publish in the near future the most interesting exhibits of our stands. But first, a quick look at the exposure:

Let’s start our tour from the stand of Gigabyte. Here is a complete system based on an AMD Athlon FX51 processor:

The system is based on the K8NNXP-940 motherboard, based on the NVIDIA nForce3 Pro 150 chipset, as well as the FX 5900 Ultra graphics card and DDR500 memory from GEIL. What impressed me most about this system personally was the support for the new IEEE1394b interface with a data exchange rate of up to 800 Mb / s. To put it mildly, this interface as part of desktop PCs, and even integrated, is still a rarity (apart from Apple computers). Perhaps someone was confused by the appearance at the Gigabyte booth of a video card on a chip from NVIDIA? This surprises me less and less 🙂 although, it should be noted, the markings “made by Gigabyte” are not noticeable on the card (perhaps there will be comments on this later), and right there, next door, there is a GV-R96P128DU card on the usual ATI Radeon 9600 Pro chip:

This is the long-awaited Gigabyte NB-1401 Centrino laptop, which has been talked about for so long on the web.

NB1401 is based on the Intel 855GM + ICH4-M chipset, is equipped with an Intel Pentium M processor with a clock speed of 1.3 / 1.4 / 1.5 / 1.6 / 1.7 GHz, and is equipped with two DDR SO-DIMM slots (up to 2 Memory), 14.1-inch XGA display, 20GB, 30GB, 40GB, 60GB or 80GB hard drive, 9.5mm slim optical DVD / CD-RW combo drive, Intel 10/100 Mbps wireless LAN Ethernet, 56K v modem.90, PCMCIA Type II slot. The case of the laptop is made of an aluminum-magnesium alloy, they say, a kit with pre-installed Microsoft Windows XP will cost Europeans about $ 2000.

Below is a photo of a laptop presented for the first time. This is NB201, also based on Intel Pentium M, with two DDR SO-DIMM slots (up to 2 GB of memory), but already with a 12.1-inch XGA screen and a standard set of ports. The weight of the laptop is only 1.56 kg, there is no data on the price yet.
