Japanese sources have published another piece of data on the prospects for the emergence of new processors, this time – from AMD. And again new names of processor cores sounded. Despite the fact that PC Watch, as a rule, does not publish rumors, I would not want this information to be perceived as the ultimate truth. Moreover, there is no official confirmation of this information anywhere.
So, according to the latest data, almost no one doubts the appearance of AMD Athlon XP processors with FSB 400 MHz support.
Japanese sources do not reject the possibility of the appearance of versions of the Athlon XP chip with a Barton core and 400 MHz FSB (most likely with a rating of 3200+). Presumably, the real clock speed of such processors will be 2.2 GHz. As for other versions of chips with a Barton core and 400 MHz FSB, it is quite possible that Athlon XP 3000+ processors with 400 MHz FSB and a real frequency of 2.1 GHz will appear.
