Following the changes in the production plans of the partner, Elpida
Memory by Powerchip Semiconductor
Corporation (PSC) Announces Plans to Launch Plates by the End of the Year
according to the standards of 0.1-micron technical process. Elpida originally planned to start producing
plates according to new technological standards in the second quarter of 2021, but recently
it was decided to postpone this date – to the third quarter of 2021.
At the last meeting of heads of companies, the head of Elpida expressed hope,
that PSC will launch 0.1-micron wafers “ASAP”. Having formed
strategic alliance with Japanese manufacturer, PSC gets 0.1-micron process technology
production, and in return reserves for the partner 30-50% of its production
capacities. It is noted, however, that the new transition to a new technology is associated with
with a number of difficulties, in particular, other materials are used in the production.
