I’m currently waiting for the SteelSeries Sims 4 mouse to come in the mail. The Sims 4 render on it is cute and my current mouse which is a Dell mouse that came with my PC responds really well while moving it across it. The mouse pad is bigger than most pads which I wasn’t used too/5. The mouse is programmed for complete functionality with The Sims 4 to the point where as your Sims express different emotions (happy, sad, angry, embarrassed, energised, etc.) with corresponding colours, the mouse’s diamond, or Plumbob, rather, glows in the colours to reflect your Sims’ emotions/5(73). First I found out I have a sensitivity to EMF”s and when I put a EMF reader next to my wireless mouse (I use to have one) the meter went crazy!! Also, I find a hi-end gaming mouse that is wired, responds better than wireless.

Blue Gene / P: IBM hopes to break the 1 Petaflop barrier

Last week, IBM shared its plans to build a Blue Gene / P supercomputer that is expected to deliver 1 Petaflop, or 1 Quadrillion operations per second (1 Quadrillion = 1,000,000,000,000,000). According to analytical company Illuminata, the performance of the fastest supercomputer to date, Earth Simulator from NEC, is about 33 Teraflops and IBM hopes to be the first to break the 1 Petaflop barrier. It is worth noting that IBM’s ambitious project found good support in the US government, as some did not like the fact that the country was inferior in performance of its supercomputers to Japan.

The company is currently working on assembling the Blue Gene / L supercomputer, which consists of 65,000 compute nodes (121 sq. mm, manufactured according to 0.13-micron standards) and running Linux. Each computing node will be integrated with two CPUs, four math coprocessors, 4 MB of memory and a five-channel communication module. In parallel with Blue Gene / L, IBM is working on the creation of another experimental system, Cyclops (Blue Gene / C), in each computing node of which there will be as many as 64 processors. The distribution of the roles of the two processors of the Blue Gene / L computing node will be approximately as follows: one is engaged in calculations and “feeds” data to mathematical coprocessors, the second coordinates the activities of the node with the rest, managing the exchange of information. It is expected that the performance of such a supercomputer is capable of reaching 180 Teraflops. Blue Gene / L and Blue Gene / C are planned to be completed in 2021, and at the same time, based on the comparative data of the two platforms, a decision will be made on which architecture to choose for Blue Gene / P. According to Bill Pulleyblank, director of IBM’s Deep Computing Institute, Linux is likely to be used not only in Blue Gene / L supercomputers, but also in other Blue Gene systems created by the institute.

The main task that I would like to solve with the help of Blue Gene is the calculation of physical processes involving DNA, as a result of which chains of amino acids are formed that form complex protein molecules, because until now Apparently, it is to this circumstance that the future supercomputer owes its name (Gene – eng. gene). Of course, the set of tasks to be solved can be significantly expanded, and Blue Gene will be tough on such calculations as, for example, forecasting the global climate situation or analyzing financial risks.

As always, the sore point when creating a supercomputer is its price. IBM has already spent more than previously planned $ 100 million. and how much more will have to be spent by 2021 is not yet known. However, the company believes that the game is worth the candle and the exceptional properties of the new supercomputers will be exactly what customers will be willing to spend millions of dollars on.
