S3C2440: new mobile processor up to 533 MHz

Samsung Electronics today officially unveiled a new low-cost mobile processor S3C2440 with a clock speed of up to 533 MHz, designed to work in pocket PCs, smartphones and other portable devices.

The S3C2440 chip is a highly integrated device, which, in addition to the ARM920T 16/32-bit RISC core with 1.3 V supply voltage, includes many additional components: NAND flash memory, digital camera interface, TFT / STN LCD display controller , USB host interface, SD / MMC / SDIO card reader, touch screen interface and much more.

The S3C2440 chip is manufactured using the 0.13-micron CMOS process technology, runs under most modern operating systems – Microsoft Windows CE, Palm OS, Symbian and Linux.
Samsung is currently shipping 533MHz, 400MHz and 300MHz S3C2440 processors with bulk shipments scheduled for Q4 2021.
